Overview:

The United Arab Emirates, popularly known as UAE, is one of the most popular tourist destinations and a top country for doing business. UAE is economically focusing on tourism and business and is the most diversified economy of all the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).  Indian citizens are required to avail a Visa to visit the UAE.

 

A few important points to note:

  • A UAE visa for Indians is mandatory to enter the country
  • The UAE Government issues different types of visas to Indian nationals
  • Based on the purpose of your travel, you can apply for a visa to the UAE
  • Indian nationals who hold a valid US visa (minimum 6 months)or a UK or EU residence valid for at least 6 months can get a visa on arrival at the UAE airport

 

 

Types of Visas in UAE:

 

Tourist Visa

  • There are several types of tourist visas for Indian nationals.
  • The visa one needs will depend on the length of your stay in the country.
  • Tourist visas to the UAE can be issued fora duration of 30 days or 90 days, single entry or multiple entry.

 

Business Visa

A business visa is part of the Golden Visa system under which foreigners can obtain a long-term visa for themselves and their dependents.

 

Transit Visa

The UAE issues two types of transit visas:

  • For 48 hours
  • For 96 hours

Transit visas are sponsored only by the UAE-based airlines and must be processed and approved before entering the UAE

Note: Both types of transit visas are not extendable

Tourists

  • People who wish to travel to UAE for Holiday and Recreation purpose or other non-business related activities
  • Females below the age of 18 are not eligible to apply for this type of visa unless they are travelling with their parents
  • Each airline has some conditions, which must be met in order for your visa to be arranged by them

Business People

  • Country professional with entrepreneurial experience are eligible to apply for the business visa
  • An eligible entrepreneur is anyone who has set up a business of his own at some point in his career, and wishes to do so again in the UAE

 

Transit Stream

  • Only the UAE-based airlines you are travelling through can arrange your transit visa prior to your journey.
  • If your trip is through a travel agency, the agency can also help you get the visa, but all visas are routed through the airline.

 

Right Time to Apply for a Visa in UAE

Here is everything for you as to when exactly you can apply for a visa to UAE:

 

Family Visit/Recreation

  • People who wish to travel to UAE for holiday and recreation purpose or other non-business related activities can apply within maximum 58 days or a minimum of 4 international working days before arrival in the UAE.
  • Emirates and other airlines recommend that you apply as early as possible.

 

Business Trip/Tour:

  • In order to apply for a business visa, you will need to have your nomination approved by an incubator supported by the UAE government (currently, AREA 2071 in Dubai and HUB71 in Abu Dhabi).
  • Once your nomination has been approved, you will be invited to apply for the visa through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs,& Ports Security.

 

Transit:

  • An onward ticket booking to a 3rd Destination,other than the one you are coming from. This type of Transit Visa is a non-extendable single entry visa valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
  • Duration of stay is upto 96 hours (4 days) from time of entry
  • Transit passengers stopping at Dubai International Airport for a minimum of 8 hours are eligible for a 96-hour Transit Visa.

  • The entry validity for all types of tourist visas is 58 days from the date of issue (Valid until date mentioned on visa)
  • After entry in Dubai, stay validity of visa can be extended twice with first extension allowed for 30 days and second extension for 20 days
  • Extension fee is AED 850 each time

96 Hours Visa -Duration of Stay: 96 Hours

  • Valid only for 96 hours stay (Single Entry, including the date of entry and exit)
  • Ideal for travellers to the UAE who plan to stay for a period of less than 4 days
  • This type of Visa is preferred by travellers having business meetings, point to point travel or taking stopovers en route to their onward journey
  • Entry validity of the visa is for 30 days from the date of issue

48 Hours Visa – Duration of Stay: 48 Hours

  • It is a Single Entry visa and valid for 48 hours stay (As per flight schedule – Arrival/departure time in Dubai)
  • Ideal for people travelling to the UAE where the stay period would be less than 48 Hours
  • This type of Visa is preferred by travellers having business meetings or taking stopovers en route to their onward journey
  • The entry validity of the visa is for 30 days from the date of issue

90 Days Visit Visa –Duration of Stay: 90 Days

  • Valid for 90 days stay (Single Entry, including the date of entry and exit) and availed by travellers having a longer stay in UAE
  • Preferred by travellers going to UAE for holidays, visit family/friends or for business trainings etc
  • The entry validity for all types of tourist visa is 58 days from the date of issue (Valid until date mentioned on visa)
  • After entry in Dubai, stay validity of visa can be extended twice with first extension allowed for 30 days and second extension for 20 days
  • Extension fee is AED 850 each time

UAE BUSINESS VISA

Proof of residency in UAE for more than two years should be provided by attaching a copy Tenancy contract/Electricity Bill under applicant name to apply for business visa

 

UAE TRANSIT VISA

Supporting Documents:

  • A passport or travel document with a minimum validity of three months
  • A photo of self against a white background
  • An onward ticket booking to a 3rd destination, other than the one you are coming

 

Multi Entry Short Term Visa: Duration – 30 Days

  • Traveller must make his first entry in UAE within validity period of 58 days (valid until date mentioned on visa)
  • With effect from the date of FIRST entry visa is valid for 30 days
  • Within the period of these 30 days traveller can make multiple entries / exits to / from UAE. However, his/her last exit from UAE should be on or before 30th day
  • After entry in Dubai, stay validity of visa can be extended twice with first extension allowed for 30 days and second extension for 20 days
  • Extension fee is AED 850 each time

Eligibility Criteria for Applying a Visa in UAE:

One can apply for a visa to UAE based on any one of the following criteria:

Criteria 1: Travel Record

  • Applicants who have travelled at least once in the last 5 years to

Or

  • One has a valid visa for countries like USA, UK, Schengen countries, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Canada, Switzerland and Japan

Or

  • Holds evidence of travel records in the last five (5) years to the UAE

 

Criteria 2: Financial Record

  • Applicants who fail to qualify as per Criteria 1 mentioned above would be required to submit either previous 2 Years Form 16 or previous 2 Years Income Tax return with a minimum gross income from business, profession or employment, which should exceed INR 2 lakhs per annum

Or

  • Investments amounting to INR 5 Lakhs or above in the form of fixed deposits in any Bank or Post Office.

 

For Invitation from Immediate Family Member Residing in UAE:

  • Spouse and children below 21 years of age AND / OR parents above 60 years of age can be invited

  • Invitation letter, passport copy, and valid residence visa copy of the host in UAE
  • For female applicants and students who are above 18 years and travelling alone require NOC from parents / husband, Photo ID of parents/ husband. Coloured copy of the host passport / residence visa.

In case, the spouse name is not endorsed on the passport:

  • Marriage Certificate/Notarized Affidavit on an INR 100/- stamp paper
  • Newly married couples traveling immediately after marriage are required to submit NOC from parents with photo ID proof, Wedding card, and Marriage photograph of the couple

Do Indians Need a Dubai Visa to travel to UAE ?
Citizens of India who wish to travel to the UAE need a valid visa that has been pre-approved by the UAE government. For Indian travelers, US visas, UK visas, or EU residency permits are valid for six months after arrival in Dubai. However, a pre-approved Dubai visa is not required. They can enter UAE for 14 days at a nominal additional charge.

How should an Indian Citizens apply for a Dubai Visa?
Indians cannot apply for a Dubai Visa at a consulate in India. For Indian tourists, the Dubai visa requires a sponsor who is a resident in UAE andwho will apply for the visa on the other’s behalf in Dubai. A sponsor can be Airline, a hotel or a tour agency, or your friends or family staying in Dubai. In order to apply for a Dubai visa, the applicant must upload scanned copies of all the required documentation, and pay the application fee.
How long does it take to process a Dubai Visa?
Generally, the processing time is 3 to 4 working days. However, it is recommended that you apply at least 30 days prior to your intended date of travel.
With a Dubai Visa, Does Ok-To-Board need to be Obtained?
For Indian travelers, an Ok to Board is an additional form of identification for their Dubai visa and is compulsory to obtain for Dubai travel. The Indian passenger is cleared to board a flight to Dubai with an Ok-To-Board tag, which is issued by most airlines flying to Dubai.
Is the UAE Visa for Single entry or Multiple Entry?
Depending on the purpose of your visit to the UAE, there are different types of visas you can obtain. Visa for a period of 14 days (Single Entry) and 30 days (Single or Multiple entry) can be applied for.
Who is qualified for Dubai Visa on arrival?
If you havea Passport from one of the following counties mentioned below, you will be granted Visa on arrival at Dubai International airport. Citizens of the GCC countries of Bahrain,Kuwait,Oman,Qatar and Saudi Arabia don't require a visa to visit UAE.
