Thailand is countedamong the most visited tourist destinations in the world. All passport holders in India can now visit Thailand for tourism, business, work, and various other activities based on the eligibility factors specified for each visa category.

A few crucial things to note:

  • Applicants can either apply for a Thailand Visa prior to their travel date or choose to take advantage of the Visa on arrival The maximum stay period is 15 days.
  • Depending on the purpose of travel and visa requirements, applicants may have the option of choosing between online or offline application method
  • Certain types of visas do not allow more than one method of application
  • Entry to the Kingdom of Thailand is administered and regulated by the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Kingdom of Thailand.

 

Types of Visa

 

Tourist Visa:

Tourist visa is granted to a foreigner who wants to visit Thailand for sightseeing,touring, recreation, or any other casual occasion with relatives and friends.

 

Business Visa:

  • This type of visais designed for applicants who wish to enter Thailand for conducting business, business meeting or training.
  • A single-entry Thai Business Visa will allows to stay in Thailand for a period of to 90 days,

 

Employment Visa:

This type of visa is designed for applicants who wish to enter Thailand for work. There are two types of visa category for Non-immigrant Visa.

  • Non-Immigrant Visa (Single entry: 3 months- Permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Immigration Bureau.
  • Non-Immigrant Visa (Multiple Entry :6 Months or 1 Year -Permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 Days (each entry) unless otherwise instructed by the Immigration Bureau)

 

Who Can Apply:

 

Tourist stream

  • Indian applicantswho are willing to visit Thailand for casual reasons are eligible to get Tourist visa
  • Thai Tourist Visa: Valid for three months and a single entry
  • You can stay in Thailand for up to sixty days within three months

 

Business Stream

  • Indian nationals seeking to travel to Thailand for Business purpose should obtain a Non-Immigrant B visa from a Thai consulate or Embassy prior to arrival.
  • It includes a Business meeting,Conference,Seminar or Training.

 

Employment Visa Stream:

  • If you are working in Thailand, you will need a Thailand Work Permit.
  • Prior to that, one also needs to obtain a Thailand Work Visa in order to enter the country. Thereafter,one will be able to apply for the permit in the first place.

 

Right Time to apply for a Thailand Visa:

 

Tourist visa:

  • The Thai Embassy/Consulate accept Thailand Visa applications only 30 days prior to the travel date.
  • There is visa on-arrival in Thailand for Indian citizens.

 

Business Visa:

  • Apply one month before from your date of departure.
  • A single-entry Thai Business Visa will allow staying in Thailand for a period of to 90 days.
  • A multiple entry Thai Business Visa will allow one to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 1-year.

 

Employment Visa:

  • To legally work in Thailand, Indian citizens must apply work permit.
  • Work permit is a legal document that states a foreigner’s position, current occupation, or job description and the Thai company he is working with.
  • It is suggested to apply one month before from your date of departure.

Document Requirements

 

Category TR (Tourism):

  • Passport valid at least 6 months from date of travel and at least 2 blank pages
  • Visa application form withsignature of the applicant
  • 2 copies Photograph, 35 mm x 45 mm,70 % face, white background, contrast color cloth
  • Return confirmed ticket
  • Accommodation: 1 Evidence of confirmed hotel/accommodation reservation in Thailand with address and contact no. under applicant’s name
  • If travelling in group, one must provide a cover letter stating all applicants’ name, Passport no, date,places, and duration of stay
  • If intend to stay Thai relatives and Thai friends, must provide letter along with ID/Passport copy
  • In case the person applying for accommodation is not a Thai citizen,he/she must provide his/her copies of visa and work permit, valid at least 6 months along with passport copy
  • Bank statements of last 6 monthsalong with bank seal and stamp, with equivalent minimum current balance to USD 700 per person or USD 1400 per family
  • Cover letter typed and signed by a family member who sponsors the trip, and whose name is on the above bank statement along with signed photocopy of passport of the sponsors (In case of submitting the financial proof of the applicant’s sponsorship by a family member)
  • Incentive Group – Cover letter on letter head from both company and travel agency stating all applicants name, passport no., place of issue, along with plan of travel and places to stay for the Incentive group, as well as stating the financial guarantee for USD 700 per person/ 20000 Thai baht for each Individual traveler in the group
  • Companies bank statement attested by the bank and photocopy along with company Business registration attested by the company
  • Processing Time: 5 to 6 working days

 

Employment Visa Requirements

 

Category B (Employment)

  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months with Two Blank Pages, and is not damaged.
  • Visa Application Form: The form shall be filled online (on VFS website), printed out and signed
  • Two recent photographs of the applicant. Please check details under the tab Photo Specifications
  • Confirmed inbound ticket to Thailand
  • Letters of recommendation from previous employers, if any

 

From Thai Company

  • Approval letter for employment:
  • Original WP. 3 or Thor Tor 3 from Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor
  • Original letter from Board of Investment (BOI) (If applicable)
  • Original invitation letter from company which is qualified to employ foreigners (must be printed on company’s letter head and signed by authorized person
  • Copy of I.D. card or passport of the signatory
  • Copy of employment contract rationale for hiring the applicant with terms of contract, e.g. position, salary, and duration of contract
  • Copy of certificate of business registration and business license issued no more than 6 months with list of shareholders
  • Copy of statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (PorNgorDor 50 and PorNgorDor 30) from past year
  • Copy of Value-added Tax registration (PorPor 20)
  • Copy of financial statement/ balance sheet from past year
  • Company profile/details of business operation
  • Company map and clear pictures showing activities of the company.

 If previously worked in Thailand:

  • Copy of previous Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labor
  • Copy of statement of personal income tax

 

If not Indian national:

  • Any proof of residence in India must be submitted such as Residence permit issued from FRRO.
  • Covid Vaccination Certificate and Aadhaar card is required
  • Processing Time: 05 to 7 working days

 

Notes:

  • All documents must be in English or Thai, arranged in order given above
  • Additional documents and/or interview may be requested
  • Applicants traveling from some particular countries have to submit International Health certificate of Yellow Fever Vaccination

 

 

Business Visa Requirements

Category B (Business):

 

Non-Immigrant Visa (Single Entry, 3 Months)

  • Permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 Days unless otherwise instructed by the Immigration Bureau

 

Non-Immigrant Visa (Multiple Entry – 6 Months or 1 Year)

  • Permitted to stay for a period not exceeding 90 Days (each entry) unless otherwise instructed by the Immigration Bureau
  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months with Two Blank Pages, and is not damaged.
  • Visa Application Form: The form shall be filled online (on VFS website), printed out and signed
  • Two recent photographs of the applicant (check details under the tab Photo Specifications)
  • Confirmed inbound ticket to Thailand

 

From Indian Company:

  • Original covering letter from employer/ company indicating intention to travel, name of Thai counterpart, duration of stay, sponsorship etc
  • Copy of registration papers of the employer/ company
  • Proof of membership in an Indian trade organization/ association (for multiple entries)
  • Proof of regular business dealing with the said Thai company (for multiple entries)

 

From Thai Company:

  • Original invitation letter from company in Thailand (must be printed on Company’s letter head and signed by authorized person)
  • Original WP.3 or Thor Tor 3 from the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labor or Visa approval letter from the Board of Investment (BOI); if the duration of stay exceeds 15 days (Document must be in Thai language)
  • Copy of I. D. card or passport of the authorized person
  • Copy of certificate of business registration and business license issued no more than 6 months with list of shareholders
  • Copy of statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (PorNgorDor 50 and PorNgorDor 30) from past year
  • Copy of balance sheet from past year
  • Company profile/details of business operation
  • Company map and clear pictures showing activities of the Company

 

If not Indian national:

  • Any proof of residence in India must be submitted, such as Residence Permit issued from FRRO
  • Covid Vaccination Certificate and Aadhaar card is required

Family Visit Visa Requirements

  • Category O (Family Member/Dependent)
  • This type of visa is designed for applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom to stay with family members in Thailand as dependents
  • Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months with Two Blank Pages, and is not damaged
  • Visa Application Form: The form shall be filled online (on VFS website), printed out and signed
  • Two recent photographs of the applicant. Please check details under the tab Photo Specifications
  • Confirmed inbound ticket to Thailand

 

From Host in Thailand

  • Original invitation letter from the host (spouse/parent/child)
  • Copy of host’s work permit or equivalents (in case working with international organization) certified by holder
  • Copy of host’s passport (at least first and last pages, visa page, stay permit page and extension of stay permission page)
  • In case spouse is working with company under BOI promotion, original letter from BOI to confirm dependent status

 

Proof of relationship:

  • Copy of certificate of marriage in English (Spouse)
  • Copy of birth Certificate in English (Child)
  • Copy of letter of confirm relationship from Indian Embassy or Indian authority (Parent)

 

Proof of adequate finance of the sponsor, which shows the flow and source of income of sponsor

Covid Vaccination Certificate and Aadhaar card is required

Note: 

  • In case that the host holds non-immigrant visa category ED, non–immigrant visa category O is only eligible for mother of the host.
  • Application can be submitted after stay permit is granted to the host

Which is the best time to travel to Thailand?
The best time to travel to Thailand is between the months of November to April.
Can I get a Thailand visa on-arrival?
Yes, Visa on arrival is available for Indian nationals who wish to stay no longer than 15 days in Thailand.
Can I apply in advance for visa on arrival?
No. This is visa UPON arrival. This means if you don't want to wait for 1 hour or more, you can apply for tourist visa at the Thai embassy/Consulate in your home country before flying to Thailand.
How long is a Thai Visa valid?
Single Entry Visa will be valid for 3 months from the date of issue. For Tourist Visa, the permitted length of stay is up to 60 days from the date of arrival in Thailand.
Which airports in Thailand provide E-VOA service?
At present E-VOA is available at 4 airports in Thailand as listed below: 1. Suvarnabhumi International Airport 2. Don Mueang International Airport 3. Chiang Mai International Airport 4. Phuket International Airport
If my E-VOA application is rejected, can I apply again?
Yes, you can reapply using the online service. Please ensure you submit complete documents for Immigration Bureau of Thailand.
How Long Before the Start of the intended visit should I apply?

My E-VOA was rejected. Can I ask for the refund of the fees?
The Visa fees and service fees as levied to the applicants are non-refundable under any circumstances whatsoever.
