Sri Lanka is also a beach-lover’s paradise, ringed by some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, and home to a number of luxury beach resorts.The island country keeps its gates open throughout the year for travelers.
Types of Sri Lankan Visas:
A Sri Lankan visa is an endorsement on a passport or a similar document to facilitate the legal entry of non Sri Lankans into the country and to regulate the period of their stay and the conditions governing such stay.
Visit Visa:
A Visit Visa is an entry permit signifying the consent of the Sri Lankan Government for the admission of a foreign national to the country. The Visa contains details of the period of time and the condition/s of the stay.
Tourist Visa:
A Tourist Visa is issued to bona-fide tourists who want to enter Sri Lanka for sightseeing, excursions, relaxation, visit relatives or yoga training for a short period of time.
Business Purpose Visa:
A Business Purpose Visa is issued to foreign nationals who visit Sri Lanka for business purposes and for a short period of time. This visa may be issued for single or double journeys.
People who can Apply for a Sri Lankan Visa
Tourists:
Travelers who wish to travel Sri Lanka for sightseeing, excursions, relaxation, visit relatives, they can apply as a Tourist (ETA).An intended traveler visiting Sri Lanka for a short stay for above purpose, must obtain ETA prior approval before their departure.
Businessmen:
Intend to visit Sri Lanka to conduct business or commercial activities like meetings, conferences, training, workshops, and seminars. This visa may be issued for single or double journeys.
Right Time toApply for a Visa to Sri Lanka
Tourist Stream:
Travelers intend to visit Sri Lanka for Sightseeing, Excursions, Recreation purpose need to apply ETA.
The ETA is initially limited to 30 days from the date of arrival.
Business Stream:
Travelers who intend to visit Sri Lanka to conduct Business meetings and negotiations,Conferences, workshops and seminars,Short term training programs and Participate in art, music and dance events, and received an Invitation from Sri Lanka, can apply Business visa through ETA.
PLEASE NOTE:
- Applicable for all ETA applicants
- Landing Requirements to Sri Lanka for Travellers
- As per the health guidelines issued on 18th April 2022 by the Director General of Health Service, fully Vaccinated travelers do not need to take pre-boarding and on arrival (day 01) Covid-19 test (PCR or Rapid Antigen test) before traveling to Sri Lanka.
- If the “required dose” of the COVID -19 vaccinationis completed and depart from abroad two weeks after of vaccination, they will be considered as “Fully Vaccinated”.
- If the ‘required doses’ of the COVID-19 vaccination are completed and depart from abroad two weeks after completion of vaccination, they will be considered as ‘Fully Vaccinated’.
- All travellers who have obtained COVID-19 vaccines should carry a proof of vaccination in English throughout their travel.
- It is not required to submit Health Declaration Forms
- It is not mandatorily required to obtain Covid-19 Insurance coverage
Visitors from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Ghana who intend to apply for ETA may apply through Sri Lankan Sponsor for their ETA from the Head office of the Department of Immigration & Emigration, Sri Lanka
